Biography:

Joni C. Helton is a native of Wilmington Delaware who grew up dreaming of being a dancer. After graduating from Delcastle High School in 1991 with a diploma in Cosmetology, she furthered her education and aspirations for dance at the University of the Arts with a degree in Modern Dance. From 1992 to 1999, she toured the world as a professional dancer for artist such as Christopher Williams, The Whitehead Brothers, Kathy Sledge, and SWV to name a few. After her dance career, Joni worked her way up from a receptionist at WYBE in 1999, to the Director of Programming within two years at WYBE TV 35 (MIND TV). She then went to work at WHYY, Inc. as the Director of TV Programming and then as Programming Coordinator for Scribe Video Center. Currently Joni is the Executive Director of Next Level Sports, Director of Operations for Roger’s Airport Inc. (Sbarro Pizza Restaurant), PIFVA Board Chair and working back at WHYY on a project by project basis.
